(Episode 36) LOVE AFFAIRS | A novel of the OmidanWURA_files By Segun Alonge Jr

The love and care was mutual and real. We became best of friends, sharing so many things in common.

Friends would tease and refer to us as five and six. It was clear to them that soon, they would receive wedding invitation from us.

Part of the resolutions I made even before entering into a marriage relationship was that I was not going to be a burden on anyone. Hence, I learnt to live complete and whole. I would make all the meals I love to eat and much more. I never wanted a relationship for the purpose of fulfilling mundane bodily desires - until the time was right.

(Omidan Wura cuts in)
‘Prince, please permit me to make a submission at this juncture,’ Omidan Wuraola pleaded.

‘Go ahead,’ my dear.
I once wrote a pen that flashed through my mind immediately you mentioned being complete and whole. I believe it is worthy of sharing at this juncture.

(She ran her finger across her phone screen and in no time found the file - as she began to read.)

YOU CALL THIS LOVE?
In stages, it did began
With simple suggestions it all started
Coupled with various experiences of the past
A soul suffering from the act of rejection
Another waiting to get involved as a consolation
Together they both launched out
Never thinking the foundation might be faltered

In stages, events unfolding
A mirage gradually growing into a reality
Leaving everyone with an eye of suspicion
Although a caring heart was waiting
Willing to express true love and share the gaiety
In order to heal the freshly wounded soul
Preferred was a burden appearing like loving

In stages, it actually was growing
With assurance that souls are really blending
Sharing lots of quality time and words of affirmation
But doubts of parental consent and confirmation
Never giving a listening ear even to those who genuinely care
Advice pouring in like water gushing out a faucet
I would listen rather to my heart was the reply

In stages, still cannot figure out
Trying hard to make it work no matter the end result
Though the future look clumsy and ill-shaded
Still keeps rigid about the very one in sight
Pulling down every other virtues that makes one worthwhile
From self worth through career to family bonds
Just to make this dream come true
BELIEVING THAT IS WHAT IT TAKES TO LOVE........
